A delegation from United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) visited Isfahan University of Technology
A three-member delegation from United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) along with 3 experts from vice-president for science and technology visited Isfahan University of Technology on Wednesday November 11, 2015. UNCTAD experts have traveled to Iran, at the invitation of vice-president for science and technology in order to carry out a plan titled “Monitoring the situation of Science, Technology and Innovation in Iran”.
According to the effective role of Isfahan University of Technology in the field of Science and Technology in Iran, UNCTAD delegation have a visit from Isfahan University of technology. They also have a meeting with university’s officials in the field of research and technology and a number of university faculty members.
During this session, Prof. Mahboobi Soofiani, Director of International and Scientific Cooperation Office had a brief presentation about IUT capabilities and facilities and then UNCTAD representatives asked several questions related to their expertise (Gas and Oil, Commercialization, Technology and Innovation) from IUT representatives. IUT faculty members based on their expertise, described the IUT activities in the fields of Technology and Science Commercialization and also mentioned several instances of collaborations and agreements between IUT and Isfahan province industries such as Petrochemical, Steel, Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Aviation, Subsea, Information Technology and Information Security Industries.
After the session, the UNCTAD delegation, accompanied by the university representatives, visited several research divisions of the IUT such as Subsea Institute, Central Library, Innovation and Technology Center, IUT Growth Center, Nanotechnology Laboratory and Biotechnology Laboratory.
UNCTAD is the principal organ of the United Nations General Assembly dealing with trade, investment, and development issues. The organization's goals are to: "maximize the trade, investment and development opportunities of developing countries and assist them in their efforts to integrate into the world economy on an equitable basis.
